News.com.au remains on top of the news sites in Australia reaching an audience of 3.9 million in the month of July.
Data from Nielsen Online Ratings shows a 7% increase in total time on News sites with eight of the top 10 news sites recording an increase in time spent per person.
Monique Perry, Head of Media for Nielsen said: “Australians’ appetite for online news is growing and their time spent on news sites is already higher than their counterparts in the US. Remarkably for a modest population, we now have 18 news sites each reaching over 1million Australians - so the local appetite for online news is there for the taking.”
smh.com.au comes in second reaching an audience of 3.4 million, with The Age coming out on top for Sessions Per Person in July with 12.28 and just behind News.com.au in terms of time spent.
The Daily Mail has nudged ahead in the rankings now sitting in 5th spot, with an audience of 2.35 million. The Daily Telegraph has also re-joined the Top 10 with an audience of 1.6 million.
