Twitter doubles character limit to 280
Twitter is running an experiment with a select group of users allowing an extended character limit. Instead of the usual 140 characters, users will be have 280 characters to tweet. Twitter says it’s to counter the “cramming” European language speakers experience and ease the frustration of trying to cram in what they want to say into one tweet. It has run data analysis and found that users using languages such as Korean and Japanese can fit more into 140 characters, while 9% of all tweets in English hit the character limit. Twitter says it knows there is an emotional attachment to 140 character limit, and many see it as a skill, but believes more space, means more people tweeting, and better conversations.

Granger exits ARN
Matthew Granger, commercial director for ARN in Sydney and Brisbane has exited the business after six years. Granger was responsible for the commercial function for both agency and direct sales in both markets and management of national agency partnerships. He was promoted to the role earlier this year as part of a new commercial structure put in place when Emma-Jayne Owens joined in the newly created role of chief commercial officer.
