Paul Brooks promoted to president of Amplifi ANZ

Dentsu Aegis has promoted Paul Brooks to the role of ANZ President of the group's investment arm Amplifi.

The new role will see Brooks work directly on the large media investments of Dentsu Aegis Network clients across all ANZ business. It means he has additional responsibility for leading programmatic agency Amnet and content agency The Storylab.

Swimming Australia and Coon Cheese announce partnership

Swimming Australia and Coon Cheese are joining forces in a two year partnership which will see the brand play an active role at Swimming Australia national events.

As part of the tie-up Coon are launching the Coon Cheese Toastie Truck, which will donate $1 from every $2 cheese sandwich to support the Swimming Australia Junior Dolphins Program, which aims to introduce children to the sport of swimming.

Swimming Australia chief commercial officer Chris Forbes says, “This is a perfect partnership for Swimming Australia, aligning with an iconic brand that will be supporting the development of future stars – and helping our fans to enjoy their events with great tasting toasted cheese sandwiches."

Dick Smith set to close

Receiver Ferrier Hodgson has given a timeline for the closure of Dick Smith, with 35 Australian stores to be shut by 16 April according to the SMH.

The remaining 266 stores will by shut in May along with the 62 New Zealand stores.

It marks the end in the downturn of the business, which was taken over by receivers in January. Ruslan Kogan, owner of online electronics store Kogan bought the Dick Smith online business in March with the aim to boost sales by up to 40%.

Snapchat’s privacy update allows targeted advertising

The new Snapchat update has made changes to its Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, meaning users who update to Chat 2.0 give permission for Snapchat to target them with customised ads.

Under the subsection ‘How We Use Information’, Snapchat added the two words “including ads” to a clause about how it uses customer information. Read the full policy here.

Peta Credlin joins Sky News

Former chief of staff to Tony Abbott, Peta Credlin will be joining Sky News as an election commentator ahead of the upcoming election.

Credlin confirmed to News Corp that she would be joining the news organisation along with a number of other commentators including controversial figure Andrew Bolt who joined recently.

Gold Coast branding agency opens London office 

Flagship Digital, a Gold Coast branding agency, has opened their first international office in London, under global head of lead generation Frazer Dobson. 

The move gives Flagship scope of offer its services direct to UK and European clients.

The company is also looking to open a New Zealand agency by the end of the year.
