SBS ramps up

SBS has updated its virtual reality (VR) app, SBS VR, to include smoother playback and more intuitive navigation - with the app continuing to explore the world through a 360° lens. Launching alongside the revamp are three new VR projects – whereby SBS provides deeper insights into content. The trio of VR-led projects are Welcome to Garma, which presents a rare insight into the remarkable Indigenous Garma Festival in Arnhem Land; A Pig’s Life with Matthew Evans, a VR exploration of the life of a pig in Australia’s meat trade; and Tomorrow’s Diwali, a real-time art animation driven by SBS Radio celebrating the significance of Diwali to Australia. The new-look SBS VR app is free to download and is available for Apple iOS and Google Android devices from Tuesday, 11 October.

Key Bauer publisher exits

Bauer Media key publisher Matt Dominello will exit the publisher after just 18 months at the business. Dominello currently looks after The Australian Women’s Weekly, Woman’s Day, Yours and Good Health. He resigned “in order to pursue his interests outside if of publishing”. His resignation follows news Marina Go would leave Bauer. There have been a number of moves within Bauer since CEO Nick Chan took the helm earlier this year.

Earlier this morning outdoor company OohMedia placed itself in a trading halt, pending an announcement from the business. Ooh has recently been on an acquisition streak, with the business buying youth focused publisher Junkee in June this year.
