Gruen returns to screens
Advertising's favourite television show - especially now that Mad Men has finished - Gruen, is back on screens on September 9.
The show - shortened from The Gruen Transfer to Gruen - will see Wil Anderson return as host along with advertising execs Todd Sampson and Russel Howcroft.
ABC TV head of entertainment Jon Casimir said: “After the show took a well-earned break in 2014, we’re seriously excited to have Wil and Gruen back, lifting the lid on advertising, spin and marketing, examining how we are sold to, and how we are sold.”
Anderson said: “I couldn’t be more excited to be working with the amazing team at CJZ on a new
series of Gruen. And I’m even more grateful they didn’t replace me with Adam Hills.”
Pillar Advertising International makes Australian launch
Pillar Advertising International has brought its car protectors – and a new advertising medium - to Australian shores.
The product is made from foam and products vehicles from bumps and scratches as well as providing strong impact out of home brand advertising.
Early brands to sign on for Pillar Advertising's Australian launch include Budget Direct, Air Asia and Infinity Cars.
Gyngell cleared of insider trading
Nine Entertainment Co CEO David Gyngell has been cleared of insider trading allegations.
The Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) launched an investigation in June amid a provide downgrade by Nine.
ASIC said: "In conducting its investigation, ASIC examined extensive documentation, including records and books, of Nine Entertainment Co Holdings, reviewed trading information and interviewed Mr Gyngell and other executives of Nine Entertainment Co Holdings.
"ASIC also considered events leading up to trading conducted by Mr Gyngell. Following its investigation, ASIC has decided to take no further action."
Salmat appoints Common Ventures as agency of record
Customer marketing and engagement specialist Salmat has appointed full service agency Common Ventures as its agency of record.
Common Ventures has worked on numerous campaigns for Salmat and were appointed after a non-competitive pitch.
It follows the recent appointment of Sarah Pike as Salmat's new chief marketing officer.
“We’re focused on being the leader in innovative and scalable customer marketing and engagement solutions,” Pike said.
“To achieve this, we’re planning to roll out a number of new and revamped products and services in the coming months. Common Ventures will be critical in helping us take these to market.
Ooh!Media launches new content platform
Ooh!Media has launched a content platform for small business as part of its online and offline product strategy.
Shortpress will publish small businesses information and insights to a mobile-first website and to Ooh! Cafe network for digital screens.
Ooh! Place group director Adam Cadwallader said: “While we originally set about looking at what content would be most useful for our Café screens, the insights resulted in oOh! launching ShortPress.com.au, which aims to deliver content that inspires small business, and then amplifying the content via our digital café screens.
“To ensure the content reflects small business’ needs, we’re establishing the ShortPress Insights Community, in conjunction with Vision Critical’s cloud based, customer intelligence platform to drive the editorial direction and content.”
