Barca sign $337m shirt sponsorship deal

Spanish football club FC Barcelona has signed a £200 million (A$337 million) shirt sponsorship deal with Japanese e-commerce firm Rakuten. The four-year agreement, which kicks off next seasons, is worth A$84 million per season, bettered only by Manchester United's shirt sponsorship deal with Chevrolet, worth $A110 million per season. Barca almost went without a shirt sponsor this year until a last minute extension deal was cut with Qatar Airlines, the current sponsor. Rakuten is also a big player in the media world as it owns performance marketing business Rakuten Marketing.

Pandora expands skips and replays advertising

Pandora is selling packages that allow brands to sponsor skips and replays by genre. When the music steaming company launched Pandora Plus, it introduced an ad format that allowed businesses to sponsor skips and replays, rewarding listeners with free content for watching a video ad. Ebay will run a two-week campaign on Pandora's 'Traditional Christmas' station that allows skipping and replays after a 15-second video, AdWeek reports. The package also includes audio and display promos.

Y&R NZ staff shakeup as MD exits

Y&R NZ managing director Steve Kane will exit the agency, with head of planning Jono Key to step up to the role effective next year. Both Key and Kane were a big part of the hugely successful McWhopper campaign. Kane now joins independent agency True as the MD.
