Marketing, PR and sales across Australia and New Zealand, for New York City's official marketing, tourism and partnership organisation, will be handled by The Walshe Group.
NYC & Company this week announced the appointment of the representative agency for both regions, in a bid to strengthen New York City's reach as a primary brand and destination for travellers from Australia and New Zealand.
The Walshe Group, with its head office in Sydney, will work with NYC & Company to further expand New York's share of the growing Australia and New Zealand travel market.
NYC & Company's president and CEO, Fred Dixon, said: “We are eager to enhance our work in market with the travel trade as well as the consumer and trade media to promote the five boroughs to travellers from every corner of this important region.”
The Walshe Group provides all aspects of sales and functions in passenger operations and also offers tourist board representation - from ongoing tourism representation to short term niche projects.
Dixon said Australia and New Zealand remain a strong source of international visitors to New York City, ranking within its top five overseas markets. In 2013, New York City welcomed 619,000 visitors from Australia and 26,000 from New Zealand.
