Network 10 and Fremantle Media have paused the production of Australian television series Neighbours due to a coronavirus scare.
The move is precautionary following news that a casual worker on set had come into contact with someone who had tested positive to the virus.
Reports from the ABC say there is believed to be a direct link between this person and a worker at Melbourne Fashion Festival who tested positive.
Network 10 and Fremantle Media released the following statement:
“Neighbours has decided to take a short break this week to ensure the production model in place can withstand any potential impact of the current COVID 19 situation. Today, all cast and crew met to discuss this issue as a result of a specific concern about the pandemic.
“Production will resume on Monday as planned with no interruption to the on-air or delivery schedule. The health and wellbeing of everyone on the set of Neighbours will always be our priority.”
