Ikon's Pat Crowley exits top spot for CommBank only role
Ikon's long-serving employee Pat Crowley has stepped aside from his management position to undertake a role focused solely on the full-service agency's darling account – CommBank. James Sawyer, a 10-year Ikon exec, has been promoted to managing partner Sydney. As part of the changes Ikon Brisbane managing partner Lesley Edwards will take up the newly created position of chairperson, Ikon National, working closely with national COO David Gerrie to focus on the long term position of the business. WPP AUNZ appoints chief talent and HR director Elissa Good-Omozusi
WPP AUNZ has appointed Elissa Good-Omozusi to the newly created role of chief HR and talent officer. Good-Omozusi was most recently chief HR & talent officer for GroupM. Prior to GroupM she was with Publicis UK for 10 years working in HR and talent management solutions across the UK Publicis Group of agencies. She will reporting directly to WPP AUNZ CEO Mike Connaghan. More on WPP AUNZ here.
Dentsu Aegis Network hires Mark Keddie as first global data protection officer
Dentsu Aegis Network has announced the appointment of Mark Keddie to the newly created role of global data protection officer. Keddie joins Dentsu Aegis Network from British Telecom Group where he had worked as chief privacy officer since 2012. Keddie has spent spent most of his 20 year career specialising in data privacy and protection. Find out more here.
Foxtel hires News Corp’s Nic Hodges to lead innovation
Nic Hodges has joined Foxtel to lead commercial innovation. Hodges was formerly head of commercial innovation at News Corp for two years, and exited at the end of 2016. He joined Foxtel at the end of May. A large part of Hodges' remit at Foxtel will be around developing its push into addressable advertising on both its digital assets and its linear television platform. Prior to News Corp, Hodges was head of innovation and technology at MediaCom for four years. More here.
Accenture promotes Fjord boss to lead APAC expansion
Accenture Interactive has promoted Bronwyn van der Merwe, who leads its Fjord experience design consultancy business, to general manager for Asia Pacific. She will drive the expansion of Fjord across APAC. She will first establish an office in Singapore and take on responsibility for the Hong Kong office. Fjord specialises in customer-centric service design and digital product creation. Van der Merwe was previously group director for Australia and New Zealand. Find out more here.
Havas ECD Stuart Turner lured to DDB Melbourne
DDB Melbourne has hired Havas’ ECD Stuart Turner, following the departure of chief creative officer Darren Spiller. Turner spent nearly four years at Havas, including the last 18 months as ECD. He has also held roles at Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney and 303 MullenLowe. Spiller left the agency last November to pursue international opportunities, but then resurfaced at Host at the beginning of this year. Turner's Melbourne role sees him return the the DDB group, previously working at DDB in South Africa in 2009. More here.
Josh Bryer straps into 303 MullenLowe to drive new Audi digital win
Full service agency 303 MullenLowe has brought on Josh Bryer as digital creative director following the win of the Audi digital account. The agency was named creative agency of record for Audi in 2015, but the digital part of the business sat with Sydney digital shop Holler from 2012, until recently. Audi again inked a deal with Holler in 2015, which was supposed to take the partnership through to 2018.Last year, Bryer spent seven months as digital creative director at Havas before taking up freelancing work at both Octagon and R/GA. CEO Mayer exits Yahoo as Verizon completes acquisition
Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer has left the business as Verizon officially completed its US$4.48 billion acquisition of search and media business Yahoo. Yahoo has been combined with AOL and will sit under a new media and technology division Oath, which has 50 media and technology brands including HuffPost, Yahoo Sports, Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Finance, AOL.com and Tumblr. Former AOL chief executive Tim Armstrong has been named as Oath CEO and has been working on integration plans since the transaction was announced in July 2016. More here.
CUB’s Richard Oppy takes VP marketing role at SAB Miller
Richard Oppy, Carlton & United Breweries' (CUB) marketing director, has been promoted to a regional role following the megamerger between its owner SAB Miller and AB InBev. Oppy has been marketing director for three years and has been with Carlton & United Breweries since 2001 in a number of marketing and commercial roles. He was previously GM for the Victoria Bitter and Crown Lager brands, and also ran the international portfolio. Find out more here.
M&C Saatchi S&E hires creative group head
M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment has appointed Duncan Shields to the newly created role of creative group head. Shields will work for the specialist sponsorship and experiential agency within the M&C Saatchi Group. He has more than 10 years of experience and has worked in agencies including McCann, VML and DDB. Shields will be reporting to MD Jamie Gilbert-Smith. In addition to Shields, S&E recently appointed Luke Haynes to senior account director. Haynes joins from RPM London where he worked with Sky, British Cycling, Heineken and Middlesex Cricket. Creatives swap shops: Ant Melder takes Turner's Havas spot as ECD
Havas Sydney has appointed Ant Melder as joint ECD alongside Seamus Higgins, following the exit of Stuart Turner. In a Havas/DDB creative swap, Melder joins from DDB Sydney where he was creative director. Turner left Havas to join DDB Melbourne. The move reunites Melder and Higgins who first worked together more than 10 years ago in London.Melder has worked for more than 20 years as a creative and copywriter in London and Australia. He has worked at Saatchi & Saatchi, Iris and was on of the creatives behind the 'Game of Balls' campaign during his two year tenure at M&C Saatchi. Find out more here.
