It's hard to keep up with all the latest moves across media, marketing, and advertising, so we've made a list. Check out the biggest moves in adland this week.

Katie Rigg-Smith departs Mindshare

Former MIndshare intern and now CEO Katie Rigg-Smith is moving to the corporate role of chief strategy officer of WPP in Australia and New Zealand. She takes the position left open when Rose Herceg was promoted to president Herceg filled the hole left by Jens Monsees who decided to step down as CEO of WPP AUNZ when the company transitioned from an ASX-listed business to one fully integrated business within the global WPP.

Nicola Lewis named global CEO of Finecast

The former chief investment officer for GroupM Australia, Nicola Lewis, has been apppointed global CEO of Finecast, WPP’s  addressable TV company. She will be responsible for the strategy and operations of Finecast, including working with local markets to execute global  strategies and set growth targets all aimed at making clients’ TV advertising more relevant and effective to their consumers.

Kogan executive to head ecommerce at News Corp

News Corp Australia appointed Adam Kron, a senior executive at pure-play local digital retailer Kogan, its inaugural director, ecommerce.  Before being Kogan’s director of growth, Kron was executive general manager and chief strategy officer at The Catch Group, now part of Wesfarmers. He has also served in similar roles at Temple & Webster, prominent in the e-commerce home category.

Stan has a new CEO

Martin Kugeler has been appointed CEO. Kugeler has been chief financial officer and director strategy, sport, business development and product for the past seven years. He has been acting CEO since April 2021 following former CEO Mike Sneesby’s appointment to the top job at Nine.

Shopper CEO

Offline media group Shopper has appointed former COO and founding partner Ed Couche as chief executive officer. He steps into the role following the death of co-founder and close friend Ben Walker, with whom he established the business in 2015.

Barbara Humphries promoted to executive creative director at The Monkeys

The Monkeys, part of Accenture Interactive, has promoted Barbara Humphries to executive creative director Sydney, effective immediately. Humphries, previously creative director, has created award winning campaigns for brands including IKEA, Coca-Cola, Nike, UN Women Australia, Nestle, Qantas, Berlei, NRMA Insurance and MLA.

Danielle Mastronardo appointed director of marketing at Ogilvy Network ANZ

The Ogilvy Network ANZ has appointed  Danielle Mastronardo Director of Marketing and PR. She will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of marketing and PR strategies that showcase the breadth of work and expertise across the network’s five business units in Australia and New Zealand.

Foxcatcher in two new hires

Foxcatcher welcomes two new appointments to the team, Darcy Franklin as Programmatic Trading Director and Qi Zhuang as Quantitative Analyst. Foxcatcher, part of the RyanCap group, is a data-driven marketing technology specialist for brands and agencies. WorldView, the Foxcatcher proprietary media planning and activation platform, utilises algorithmic trading technology to deliver superior programmatic performance. WorldView connects directly to media buying platforms to automate and provide a real-time data-driven buying strategy.

Sunita Gloster joins Maurice Blackburn Board

Leading law firm Maurice Blackburn Lawyers announced that Sunita Gloster has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director of the firm’s board. Maurice Blackburn Chair Steve Bracks welcomed Ms Gloster’s appointment, saying she came to the role with almost 30 years of experience in professional services across media and marketing, including roles held internationally as well as in Australia.

Adelaide's Amplified Intelligence expands Into the UK

Attention measurement platform Amplified Intelligence is expanding into the UK.  The Adelaide-based company is opening a regional HQ in London, appointing Unruly’s Global VP, Client Partner, Nigel Ashton, as its SVP Commercial Partnerships, EMEA.

Howatson hires two ex-CHEP executive creative directors

Richard Shaw and Jeremy Hogg have joined Howatson+Company as Executive Creative Directors. Levi Slavin, Chief Creative Officer: “if you’ve come across Rich and Jez in their previous roles at CHEP, DDB, Clems Melbourne, Marcel or The Monkeys you’ll know they’re super smart, very talented, quite tall, and truly lovely.” They join Gavin Chimes as ECDs at the agency.

Kantar strengthens strategic media, analytics and CX

Kantar announced senior leadership appointments. Straford Rodrigues has re-joined the Australian team as Head of Media and Marketing Effectiveness from his tenure at Kantar in North America. Leading CX specialist Lee Catlin has also joined as Senior Director, Customer Experience.  Head of Creative Irene Joshy has moved to Australia from her Singapore base. 

BMF's Paul Coles joins DO

Independent shop DO announced the appointment of Paul Coles as national managing director and co-owner. Coles departs his role as GM at BMF Australia, after close to five years. Part of his role was leading  ALDI, named Most Effective Advertiser for thrtee  years running.

Ex-Cummins&Partners' Josh Collins joins Yakkazoo

Integrated full-service agency Yakkazoo announced the appointment of former Cummins&Partners group account director Josh Collins to the newly created role of group account director. Collins has more than a decade of experience delivering digital, traditional, and integrated channel campaigns, working on clients including Isuzu, PointsBet and Victoria Police.

Magdalina Triantafyllidis goes to whiteGREY as Melbourne MD

whiteGREY has appointed Magdalina Triantafyllidis Melbourne managing mirector. She joins from her role as managing director of WPP’s fully integrated creative, media and technology offering for Ford across Australia and New Zealand.

Former Twitter Australia MD to lead Yotpo’s JAPAC operations

Ecommerce marketing platform Yotpo has today announced the appointment of Suzy Nicoletti as its Sydney-based Vice President and General Manager of the JAPAC region, following the Israeli company’s explosive launch into the Australian market in late 2021 after a USD$230 million capital raise to drive expansion efforts.    Nicoletti, the former Managing Director of Twitter Australia will spearhead Yotpo’s operations for the region, which will include tripling the company’s headcount in its Sydney office to support its growing portfolio of forward-thinking online retailers. Also a former Google Executive, the California-native joins Yotpo with more than 15 years’ experience scaling companies globally, including leading Twitter’s ANZ operations over the past 5 years.
