Telstra’s Harry Lowes takes on new data role

Harry Lowes is taking on the role of director of one to one marketing and loyalty at Telstra. Formerly the GM of media and digital, Lowes will now oversee anything to do with addressable marketing and loyalty at the telco. He had held the digital and media role since 2012, and took on the new position in March. Telstra is understood to send up to 65 million pieces of addressable communications a year. The role was previously held by Nick Adams, who also leads the 'marketing enablement' division set up by CMO Joe Pollard in a restructure two years ago. Read more here

Sérgio Brodsky to lead strategy for Initiative Melbourne

Sérgio Brodsky has been appointed to head of strategy for Initiative Melbourne, a new role at the agency. He was strategy director for Starcom Melbourne. Brodsky has spent time as a strategist for WPP's brand consultancy Brand Union in London where he worked on the global repositioning of HSBC as well as producing award-winning work for clients across the FMCG, professional services, education and not-for-profit categories. He later joined Starcom London, working in the global business unit for Procter & Gamble. Most recently, Brodsky was at OMD working with RMIT, Dulux and Bupa. More here

Lego director and head of marketing for AUNZ exits

Lego is on the hunt for a senior marketer as Australia's top marketer Troy Taylor is exiting to take on a senior management role at Lego based in Hong Kong. Taylor, who has been senior director and head of marketing for Australia and New Zealand for the past three years, will relocate to Hong Kong in May. His new role is general manager of the Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan business. Lego is currently searching for a replacement. Read more here

OMD's Dan Robins joins Spotify to lead programmatic offering

Spotify has bolstered its sales division across Australia and New Zealand with the hire of OMD's Dan Robins and Adshel's Collene Wright. Robins, who spoke at last year's AdNews Media & Marketing Summit, joins Spotify as head of programmatic and data from his previous position of head of interactive at OMD. He was hired to lead Spotify’s programmatic and data offering across ANZ. More here.

Aliza Knox joins Unlockd as COO

Twitter’s former Asia-Pacific vice president, Aliza Knox, has joined mobile ad platform Unlockd as chief operating officer. Australian-founded Unlockd gives consumers rewards and discounts in exchange for viewing ads or content when unlocking their smartphones. At Twitter, where she spent four-and-a-half years, Knox ran the APAC operations, led the sales and self-serve advertising businesses and oversaw part of the Latin America region. At Unlockd, Knox will oversee international expansion and global operations, utilising her experience and network to drive value and growth. She spoke with AdNews earlier this year. Read more here.

News Corp recruits MCN's Danny Lavell for agency sales role, GM promoted

MCN's national head of direct sales Danny Lavell has joined News Corp as general manager of consortium agencies, in what it says is a key appointment to its sales leadership team. Lavell has been national head of direct sales with MCN for the past four years. The media executive has more than 20 years of experience in publishing and television, including 16 years at ACP. In a separate move, News Corp's general manager of NSW network sales Paul Blackburn has been appointed general manager of key accounts. More on News Corp here

MediaCom hires Saatchi & Saatchi producer

MediaCom has appointed Esmé Fisher as senior production director of its specialist division MediaCom Beyond Advertising (MBA). Fisher joins from Saatchi & Saatchi, where she was senior TV producer. She has more than 15 years of experience and has worked with leading creative agencies and production companies, including Saatchi & Saatchi, TBWA, Fallon, Grey, Droga5 and Mother. She has created work for St. George, Toyota, Mondelez, Reconciliation Australia, Subaru, Woolworths, Telstra, The BBC, Lion (Nathan), Sony, Skittles and Bank of Melbourne. Fisher will work alongside MediaCom's global ECD Gemma Hunter, who is the lead for MBA Australia. More on MediaCom here.

Tourism Tasmania appoints CMO

Tourism Tasmania has appointed Emma Terry as chief marketing officer. She takes over from former executive director of marketing Guy Taylor, who left the company in September. Terry will help drive the state government's goal of attracting 1.5 million visitors a year to Tasmania by 2020. Terry has spent the past 17 years in marketing strategy, brand and communications and has a broader background in business and management. Prior to this role, Terry worked for TasPorts. She was previously strategic brand and marketing manager at Aurora Energy and director of strategy sales and marketing at Entura/Hydro Tasmania. Terry will begin work at Tourism Tasmania on 2 May. Starcom trading head to leave agency

Starcom Australia's national trading head Andrew Taylor will leave the business after just over two years. The agency did not offer a reason for Taylor's departure in a brief statement. Starcom says Publicis Media’s group investment practice, Publicis Media Exchange (PMX), will work with Starcom’s investment function while the agency looks at how it wants to run its investment arm in the future.
