Movers & Shakers: Salterbaxter, Google, Enigma, QMS, Magic

It's hard to keep up with all the latest moves across media, marketing and advertising, so we've made a list. Check out some of the biggest moves this week.

Enigma promotes Matt Dawe to creative director

Independent agency Enigma has promoted Matt Dawe to creative director, reporting directly to ECD Tim Brown. Dawe joined Enigma in 2012 as a copywriter and has been an integral part of driving Enigma’s creative output across all disciplines.

Flinders University appoints chief marketing officer

Bev Bury will be joining Flinders University on May 15 as its new chief marketing officer. She is currently director of marketing operations at the University of Adelaide where she is focused on the people, processes, and technology that power the overall marketing and recruitment strategy.

Salterbaxter appoints MD

Salterbaxter Australia has appointed Stu Wragg, a founding member of the Salterbaxter Australia team, to managing director and Tess Ariotti has joined as lead consultant – advisory. Ariotti brings 15 years of in-house experience, which includes building and implementing CSR and sustainability strategies and programs for Samsung, Allianz Insurance, and Westpac Group.

QMS appoints John Glynn as general manager - trading

Digital outdoor media company QMS has appointed John Glynn as general manager – trading. He replaces Christina Bova who left QMS for a New York position as sales operations manager at Grocery TV. Glynn will be responsible for pricing and inventory, revenue strategy, analytics, business intelligence, revenue reporting and trading partnerships.

Katarina Farrell appointed MD of Sydney for Keep Left

PR and creative agency Keep Left has appointed Katarina Farrell to the newly created role of managing director - Sydney. Farrell joins Keep Left from Herd MSL where she most recently held the position of chief growth officer. She brings more than 18 years of communications experience working brands including American Express and Cancer Council Australia.

Google's Mathew Pretel becomes Cartleux's head of product

Mathew Pretel, previously Google’s advertising solutions architect, has joined adtech Cartleux as head of product. During his 12-year tenure at Google, Pretel was also the technical lead for a Google News Initiative sponsored program that helped accelerate digital maturity of publishers across APAC.

Magic's global expansion

Australian digital marketing and advertising independent Magic has appointed a new senior leadership team to lead the agency’s global expansion in the US and UK. Fotini Choutou joins in the newly created role of head of performance (Northern Hemisphere) and Jonathan Renteria steps into the new job of group account director, Magic LA, leading Magic’s Alchemy expansion in the US.

Cartology's Jessica Hunter joins The Brag Media

The Brag Media has appointed Jessica Hunter as GM of partnerships. Hunter’s appointment follows a near three-year stint as head of brand & agency partnerships with Woolworths Group’s media business Cartology, where she built her team from the ground up and assisted with the launch of Retail Media to a new cohort of customers.

Engaging.io adds four clients and appoints non-executive chair

Engaging.io, the Sydney-based CRM integration agency, has picked up a string of major business wins including ASX-listed adventure tourism business Experience Co and appointed digital marketing entrepreneur and executive, Miles Joyce, as non-executive chair ahead of international expansion. 

Outbrain announces senior leadership appointments

Outbrain, recommendation platform for the open web, has appointed Ayal Steiner (based in Australia) to executive vice president, brand solutions. Steiner will oversee development of innovative solutions for brands and agencies looking to drive measurable outcomes and deeper engagement with audiences.
