McCann Melbourne reveals new leadership team

McCann Melbourne has promoted general manager Anita Deutsch-Burley to managing director and Roshni Hegerman to head of strategy, AdNews can reveal. The move follows the departure of managing director Adrian Mills, ECD Matt Lawson and head of strategy and media David Phillips, who all exited the agency last week to join Deloitte Digital. The agency’s creative leadership will continue under Melbourne-based chief creative officer Pat Baron and ECD Nicole Mandile. Read more here.

The Monkeys reveals Ant Keogh as Melbourne creative lead

The Monkeys has finally revealed former Clemenger Melbourne top creative Ant Keogh as its chief creative officer for its newly formed Melbourne agency. The announcement comes after weeks of speculation on who would fill the top role, with Keogh being tipped for the role since his departure from Clemenger Melbourne in July. His addition to The Monkeys' new venture makes him the third Clemenger member to join the agency, which was recently acquired by Accenture, joining CEO Paul McMillan and head of strategy Michael Derepas. Read more here.

Hughesy & Kate flip to SCA, replace Hamish & Andy

Australian Radio Network's (ARN) Kiis Network drive hosts Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes and Kate Langbroek have moved to rival radio group Southern Cross Austereo's (SCA) Hit Network - filling the gap set to be left by long-standing drive hosts Hamish & Andy. AdNews understands that ARN chose not to renew Hughesy and Kate's contracts and as SCA were on the hunt for new drive show, as Hamish & Andy depart later this year, the pair were a good fit. Regarding filling the drive slot, AdNews understands that SCA was in talks with Sophie Monk's management and had also thought about moving Carrie Bickmore's afternoon slot to drive, but it clashed with her commitments to Channel Ten's The Project. Isobar names new managing director

Isobar has promoted Erik Hallander to managing director after more than nine years with the business. Hallander originally joining as a developer and working his way up to regional mobile and innovation director. The managing director role has been left unfilled for several years since Konrad Spilva stepped up to CEO, but Isobar has reintroduced the position to align with the structure of the rest of Isobar Group. Spilva will remain with the business but elevate his focus to the Isobar Group with Hallander continuing to report to Spilva. Read more here.

ANZ marketer resurfaces at Australian Sports Commission

Former ANZ marketer Louise Eyres has resurfaced at the Australian Sports Commission (ASC). Eyres starts immediately as ASC general manager and will be part of a new-look ASC executive team. Eyres joins from ANZ Banking Group, where she was group general manager marketing, and will lead a new ASC division – ‘Marketing, Customer Insights and Analytics’. Eyres, who has also been global head of brand for BHP Billiton, left the bank in May this year.

Adobe MD exits

Adobe has appointed Suzanne Steele as managing director for Australia and New Zealand, following the exit of Chris Skelton. Skelton had been in the role for three years and at the company since 2012. Steele joins Adobe from Experian where for the past two years she has led the ANZ operations as managing director.

Orchard hires Verbrugghe from Deepend

Orchard has hired Kim Verbrugghe as head of strategy, in a move that the agency's founders say signals a “new phase” of how the business approaches strategy. Verbrugghe will implement a design thinking methodology across the entire strategy function, with the aim of making it more human-centric and collaborative. Andrew Antoniou, Managing Partner at Orchard, said: “As a business, we need to continue to innovate, grow, stretch and push the jagged edges to stay at the forefront of what the market is demanding. Kim will help us do that and more. She is super smart and has a history of driving change in the digital space.” She joins from Deepend where she spent five years.

Vizeum digital director joins Ikon

Vizeum digital director Grant Smith has joined Ikon after two years at the business. According to his LinkedIn, Smith has been at Ikon for months. 

News Corp appoints Alice Almeida to digital strategy and innovation role

News Corp has appointed Alice Almeida to the newly created role of digital strategy and innovation role. In the role, Almeida will work across News DNA and national sales. She will also explore new opportunities with marketers using News Corp Australia’s data, consumer research and insights. Almeida was formerly manager of innovation and insights at Hitwise, and has served on both the the IAB Measurement and Research Councils. She previously worked for News as a strategic planner between 2007 and 2008.

Pacific Magazines creates new head of agency role

Pacific Magazines has promoted Christie Taylor to the newly created role of head of agency. Taylor is tasked with deepening relationship with agencies partners for Pacific. Taylor joined Pacific in February this year, previously holding roles at Seven West Media and Bauer Magazines. She will report to Prue Cox.
