Movers & Shakers: M&C Saatchi, Initiative, Carat, Mediabrands, AWARD

It's hard to keep up with all the latest moves across media, marketing and advertising, so we've made a list. Check out some of the biggest moves this week.

Cam Blackley to depart M&C Saatchi

Cam Blackley, chief creative officer at M&C Saatchi AUNZ, is departing after almost six years at the agency. A new creative leadership structure will be announced in the coming weeks. Blackley's creative leadership has delivered campaigns including for Tourism Australia, Minderoo Foundation, Big W and Steggles.

Mandie van der Merwe replaces Blackley as AWARD chair

Advertising Council Australia has announced Mandie van der Merwe as the new chair of the Australasian Writers and Art Directors Association (AWARD). Saatchi & Saatchi’s incoming joint CCO takes over from M&C Saatchi CCO, Cam Blackley, who steps down later this month after four years leading AWARD.

Megan Davey promoted to GM Initiative Melbourne

Initiative has promoted Megan Davey to the newly created role of general manager, Initiative Melbourne. Reporting directly to managing director Sarah James, Davey’s remit will be work alongside James driving Melbourne’s growth agenda as the agency continues to expand its market footprint. 

Carat appoints Hiranthi Jayaweera NSW managing director

Dentsu has appointed Hiranthi (Harry) Jayaweera as Carat NSW managing director. Jayaweera brings nearly 20 years' experience working in media agency and media owner to Carat, where she will focus on the agency’s strengths in designing best-practice media-led experiences for real consumers.

Mediabrands appoints Clay Gill its first chief data & technology officer

IPG Mediabrands has appointed Clay Gill to the newly created role of chief data and technology officer of IPG Mediabrands Australia. He will also continue to operate on the Mediabrands’ executive leadership team. Gill’s remit is to set and drive strategic growth and operational excellence across the Group, ensuring IPG Mediabrands transforms into the most recognised digital and data-led agency group in Australia.

Jemma Enright becomes JCDecaux's first GM airports

JCDecaux has appointed Jemma Enright to the newly created position of general manager, Airports ANZ. The new leadership position has been introduced to drive a consistent and innovative growth strategy across JCDecaux’s six-airport portfolio in ANZ, with Enright responsible for delivering all aspects of product evolution and revenue generation.

George P. Johnson appoints Darren O’Meara growth and development director 

Experience marketing agency George P. Johnson has named Darren O’Meara growth and development director. O'Meara brings to the role integrated knowledge that spans experience marketing, data & analytics, creative, and media, collaborating with some of the largest global brands that include Lenovo, Adobe, Cisco, and Coca-Cola.
