It's hard to keep up with all the latest moves across media, marketing and advertising, so we've made a list. Check out some of the biggest moves this week.

HAVAS appoints Richard Clarke chief growth and client officer

Advertising and media communications agency group HAVAS has appointed Richard Clarke chief growth and client officer in Australia. Clarke has relocated from HAVAS UK where he spent four years at PR firm HAVAS Red, most recently as managing director. Prior he was a senior partner at Ogilvy UK. Reporting to HAVAS Creative Network ANZ group CEO James Wright, Clarke will now work on cross Australia's Village, new business and incubating new service-based propositions.

Howatson+Company promotes Gavin Chimes to CCO and Richard Shaw to deputy

Howatson+Company has appointed a new creative leadership structure, with Gavin Chimes now chief creative officer of the independent agency. Richard Shaw has also been promoted to deputy chief creative officer. Prior to Howatson+Company, Chimes worked at CHE Proximity, Clemenger BBDO, Marcel and Droga5, developing multiple D&AD and Cannes winning campaigns such as Tiger Beer Air-Ink, The Lion’s Share, NRMA First Saturday, Sloways and Samsung Microcodes. Shaw joined Howatson+Company in 2022 as executive creative director. He joined Chris Howatson from CHEP.

Spark Foundry promotes Sue-Ellen Osborn and Cleo Lam

Spark Foundry Australia has promoted Sue-Ellen Osborn to the new role of national head of investment, while Cleo Lam steps into Osborn's vacated role as head of investment in Sydney. Osborn has been with Spark Foundry Australia for almost four years and has worked for Publicis Groupe for 20 years. Lam moves from her role as group activation director to lead investment at the agency’s Sydney office. Lam, who has been at Spark Foundry for nine years, now oversees the activation product in Sydney – crafting investment solutions, driving commercial outcome for clients, and mentoring group activation directors.

Ashleigh Bruton becomes Emotive's head of fame

Independent creative agency Emotive has appointed Ashleigh Bruton to the newly created role of head of fame.She is the former head of content and social at Digitas and Publicis Groupe and national director, integration at Thrive PR. Working closely with Hogg, Bruton will also be responsible for developing Emotive’s fame offering. Fame thinking is integrated throughout strategy, creative and production and Bruton will lead a team of specialists encompassing social, talent, partnership, PR and brand experience.

Initiative's Ryan Haeusler exits, Emma Greenhalgh promoted

IPG's media agency Initiative has appointed Emma Greenhalgh national head of communications design. Greenhalgh’s appointment will take effect mid-October, following the departure of Ryan Haeusler after almost nine years at the agency. Greenhalgh will be based in Sydney and report to national strategy director Thomas Dodd. Greenhalgh has 10 years industry experience, the last three at Initiative.

Jaclyn Hadida becomes Captify's MD for Australia

Search intelligence platform Captify has named Jaclyn Hadida managing director for Australia. Hadida, previously country manager at InMobi ANZ, will oversee Captify’s Australian business, including all revenue and client facing functions for Captify’s business in the region which include programmatic sales, direct sales, client strategy and data partnerships across the market, as well as trading and insights functions. Krish Raja, who has led Captify’s Australian business since 2021, will be relocating to New York to focus on emerging business development opportunities.

Carsales' Vanya Mariani is the new chair of IAB Australia

Vanya Mariani, Carsales' commercial director of media (sales and customer solutions), has been appointed chair of the IAB Australia board of directors. Seven West Media's director of data and growth, Andrew Brain, has been appointed deputy chair. Rebecca Costello and Suzie Cardwell will join the IAB board as representatives for The Guardian and for Nine. Mariani was previously IAB deputy chair and succeeds Matt Rowley who stepped down from the IAB Board following his departure from Pedestrian Media.

Alex Culpin joins DMARGE social agency FEEDSTAR

Australian digital men’s publisher DMARGE has appointed Alex Culpin talent and sales lead for its social media agency FEEDSTAR. Culpin brings extensive experience in social media and digital marketing, along with a passion for creating travel content in his spare time. "His experience working with a wide range of talent and platforms will help FEEDSTAR continue to deliver impactful social media strategies," DMARGE founder and publisher Luc Wiesman said.

The Idea Shed hires ex-dentsu head of design John Fairley

Creative commerce agency The Idea Shed has appointed John Fairley design director. As previous head of design ANZ at Dentsu Creative, he led creative initiatives across Australia and New Zealand, driving projects for clients such as American Express, The Iconic, Kmart and NIB. Prior to moving to Sydney in 2021, Fairley held senior creative management roles in major London agencies. He will also continue to nurture his own clients, allowing him to bring a diverse range of perspectives to The Idea Shed while maintaining his individual creative endeavours.

PHD's Mitchell Long becomes Havas chief strategy officer

Havas Media Network has appointed Mitchell Long chief strategy officer. He joins from PHD where he worked for 12 years, most recently as national head of strategy. He will join the Havas Media leadership team. “Mitch is a rare talent within our industry with a sharp focused mind that can unpack and develop business solutions for clients with compelling results," Havas Media Network CEO Virginia Hyland said.

PHD Aotearoa promotes three

PHD Aotearoa (New Zealand) has created a new position at the agency with the appointment of Monica Wales as implementation director. She will lead the agency’s media implementation specialists in a new hub and deliver best in class processes, implementation and automation solutions to deliver measurable results for clients. Kirsty Turner has also been promoted from group business director to client service director, while Hannah Merritt has been promoted from planning director to strategy director, following Brenden Hewitt’s move to lead the PHD Sydney strategy team.
