Willie Pang leaving GroupM
The managing director, GroupM Services, Williie Pang is leaving for a fintech, Limepay, which brings together card payments and flexible instalment options. The former CEO of MediaCom AUNZ will make the move at the end of the year.
Pivotus appoints first operations director
Independent media agency Pivotus has appointed Dane Jordan as its first operations director. He joins Pivotus from Big Ads where he spent six and a half years as data and marketing director and head of product and strategy.
VMG appoints former Brisbane Broncos CEO Paul White
Independent media company VMG has appointed former Brisbane Broncos CEO Paul White as board advisor effective immediately. White has worked in several executive roles with global companies Xstrata and Anglo American, and held his CEO position with the ASX-listed Brisbane Broncos for a decade. In 2017, he was nominated for Queensland’s Australian of the Year Award.
Broadsheet Media's head of reader revenue
The publisher has appointed Skye Rugless in the newly-created position of director of reader revenue. Rugless joins from the ABC, where she drove audience acquisition and retention for major ABC brands. Before that she was at News Corp working across The Australian and The Times (UK) subscription products.
James McGrath appointed Clemenger Group creative director at-large
Clemenger BBDO Melbourne’s creative chairman James McGrath takes up the new role as the Group’s creative director at-large in October. He’ll step down from his current role, and take on the newly-formed position in a part-time capacity, supporting and mentoring the Group’s creative leadership across Australia and New Zealand.
Two music curators for LiSTNR
SCA announced Kate Casey's promotion to LiSTNR senior music curator. She has been leading the music curation across the 25 LiSTNR stations and has worked with SCA for almost four years as a music scheduler. Casey has also worked as music director at Fox FM and at Nova in Brisbane. Ashlee Carroll is also appointed LiSTNR music curator. She joins from her role as a music curator for YouTube Music and Google Play Music in Australia and New Zealand. Carroll has also worked as a music programmer for MTV and Viacom International.
DDB Sydney adds eight to creative team
DDB Sydney has boosted its creative department with the recent additions of Andrew Torrisi (Senior Creative), Nicole Yeoman (Senior Art Director), Allie Steel (Senior Copywriter), Madeleine Purdy (Art Director), Lucy Hay (Copywriter), Camille Bui Viet (Copywriter), Sean Vrabel (Copywriter) and Alex Collares (Art Director).
SCA strengthens TV sales team
SCA promoted Matthew Bartlett from his commercial role to Melbourne head of TV. In another internal promotion, Tegan Legg was promoted from TV account manager to group sales manager. They are both reporting to Otto Ablinger, national head of TV.
Right move for Mitch Watkins
Rightscale Group, marketing and technology consultancies, appointed Mitch Watkins to the newly-created role of group financial controller. Watkins previously worked for Essence, a WPP-owned data and measurement-driven media agency, as financial controller for the EMEA region.
AAP expands Board
The Australian Associated Press (AAP) has added three directors to its Board. Gail Hambly, Shirley Chowdhary, and Ranya Alkadamani join as non-executive directors. Hambly previously worked as group general counsel and company secretary at Fairfax Media. Chowdhary was previously the inaugural CEO of the GO Foundation, founded by former AFL players Adam Goodes and Michael O’Loughlin. Alkadamani has commercial and political experience advising on strategic communications.
BBC Studios grows local production
BBC Studios Australia and New Zealand is expanding its production team with the appointment of Will Hamilton to the new position of commercial and business operations director. Hamilton joins from Eureka Productions where he was director of production and operations working with Australian FTA networks and major international streaming platforms, with a slate that included international formats including The Amazing Race Australia, Holey Moley, and Making It. Prior to Eureka he was business director at Seven Studios.
