Movers & Shakers: Emotive, DDB, Merkle, Ad Council

It's hard to keep up with all the latest moves across media, marketing and advertising, so we've made a list. Check out some of the biggest moves this week.

Merkle's Kim Douglas exits

Dentsu CX agency Merkle's president Kim Douglas has exited the business, after less than five months in the role. Sources say Dentsu's CEO of practices and products in ANZ Kirsty Muddle will be now covering that part of the business.

Michael Rebelo appointed chair of Advertising Council Australia

The board of directors of the Advertising Council Australia (ACA) has elected Michael Rebelo, CEO of Publicis Groupe ANZ, as its new chair. He succeeds Mark Green, who moved to New York to be global CEO of Droga 5.

Snap's Matt Coote appointed GumGum country manager

GumGum, the contextual-first company with a focus on digital advertising, has named Matt Coote country manager for Australia, effective immediately. He will be responsible for leading the sales team and guiding effective cross-functional strategies. 

Because ANZ appoints Chloe Woodhouse

Brand activation agency Because ANZ has appointed Chloe Woodhouse to the newly created role of director of growth. She joins with more than 14 years' experience from the UK where she most recently was client development manager at Smyle.

Patrick Forth named Fabulate chairman

Australian influencer marketing platform Fabulate has named Patrick Forth, the former Boston Consulting group director in Australia, as its new chairman. He has advised many onshore and offshore media/technology companies over his thirty plus years at Boston Consulting Group. 

Psembi Kinstan becomes DDB Melbourne's chief creative officer

DDB Group Melbourne has promoted group executive creative director Psembi Kinstan to the newly created position of chief creative officer. He joined in 2021, helping grow the agency's headcount to over 100, following client wins including Coles, Asahi CUB, Acciona, Movember, Mr Chen’s, Dabble, Funlabs and Our Watch.

NAB's new CMO is Natalie Lockwood

NAB has appointed Natalie Lockwood chief marketing officer. She joins the bank from Visa where she was vice president brand and marketing for Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific. Before that she was general manager of marketing at ASX Ltd.

Ben Shepherd departs Schwartz Media

Ben Shepherd has stepped down from his role as CEO of publisher Schwartz Media. The former chief investment officer at dentsu, joined the media group less than a year ago.

Emotive appoints Thinkerbell's Alice Tschuchnigg business and culture director

Independent creative agency Emotive has appointed Alice Tschuchnigg, former executive head thinker at Thinkerbell, as business and culture director. She will take on Wotif, Mount Franklin and HelloFresh accounts.

HITIQ names Chris Davis as CMO

HITIQ, a concussion management technology company, has named Chris Davis as CMO. He will lead HITIQ’s efforts to expand its brand presence and customer engagement globally. He was most recently head of growth at A-Leagues.

Paul Broomfield to lead Civic Data's WA operations

Data privacy, identity and governance advisory firm Civic Data has brought Paul Broomfield on as senior consultant. Broomfield, who lead WA operations, joins after serving as a technical lead at digital analytics and optimisation consultancy Digital Balance.

Tony Alika Owens becomes CEO of Amperity

Customer data platform Amperity has named Tony Alika Owens as its CEO and member of the board. Owens brings over 20 years of experience in executive roles at Salesforce and Oracle, where he scaled enterprise operations and global sales.
