It's hard to keep up with all the latest moves across media, marketing and advertising, so we've made a list. Check out some of the biggest moves this week.
Anthony Ellis promoted to CEO of Publicis Media Exchange ANZ
Anthony Ellis has been promoted to the new position of chief executive officer for Publicis Media Exchange (PMX) in ANZ. He steps up from his current position as managing director at PMX ANZ, a role he has held for the past three years. Prior to this, he worked as chief investment officer at Zenith Media for close to 20 years, starting in 2001. Ellis' remit will be expanded to include Publicis Groupe’s Sport & Entertainment division (PSE) in ANZ, and he will continue to report to Publicis Groupe ANZ CEO Michael Rebelo.
The CEO of industry body Commercial Radio & Audio (CRA), Ford Ennals, has announced his resignation effective today. Ennals has served as CEO for two years, during which he led the rebranding of the industry body from “Commercial Radio Australia” to “Commercial Radio & Audio”. He oversaw the launch of ‘Radio 360’, the new industry audience measurement system which provided more robust audience listening data. Ennals next move is unknown.
Leo Burnett appoints Lenna Boland group creative director
Leo Burnett Australia has made three additions to its creative team, with the hire of Lenna Boland as group creative director and two new associate creative directors, James Beswick and Rowan Foxcroft. Boland is a seasoned creative director with more than 20 years of experience, working with brands in the finance, insurance, FMCG, automotive and retail sectors. She was most recently at Ogilvy in Melbourne.
BMF's Tom Hoskins and Dave Roberts promoted to group creative directors
BMF has made a series of promotions to its creative department, including Dave Roberts and Tom Hoskins as group creative directors. Hoskins joined BMF as a creative director in 2021, having worked in the UK, US, Asia and Australia. During his time at BMF, Hoskins has led the Australian Government account and some of the country’s biggest behaviour change campaigns, including helping to end child sexual abuse ‘One Talk at a Time’ and encouraging Aussies to ‘Fight Cybercrime in your Downtime’.
Emotive expands creative and account management teams
Creative agency Emotive has made three new hires alongside a promotion to its account management and creative teams. Aoife Lehane, who joined Emotive from Droga5 Dublin twelve months ago, has been promoted to account director. Joining the account management team are two new senior account managers. Ruki Ahad arrives from Ogilvy, while Tyler Ronaldson has been hired from Clemenger BBDO. Jenna Fisher joins as creative opps manager.
HERO taps Ken Chan to be head of planning
Independent agency HERO has appointed brand, marketing and CX strategy specialist Ken Chan to its Melbourne team as head of planning. A seasoned strategic advisor who draws from a diverse knowledge base, Chan’s experience spans brand, marketing and business operations with his track record of work in advertising, management consulting and client-side roles. Previously a management consultant in strategy & digital transformation with Accenture, Chan was also head of strategy at VML and Hardhat, leading both planning and CX strategy functions.
The Works appoints Jerome Gaslain growth creation partner
The Works, part of Capgemini, has appointed Jerome Gaslain to the partner team. He brings more than 15 years of experience in the industry, both in Australia and throughout Europe. Gaslain arrives at The Works having worked on brands like Coke Zero, Nike, Gucci, Levi’s, Oppo, Disney, Apple, Toyota, and Vodafone. He has recently returned from four years working at AKQA Amsterdam and The &Partnership in London.
impact.com promotes Helena Barroso Zarco to director, customer success and sales ANZ
Partnership management platform impact.com has aligned its ANZ sales and customer success teams, promoting Helena Barroso Zarco to director, customer success and sales ANZ. Barroso Zarco is an experienced affiliate marketing professionals, having spent more than a decade leading partnership programmes for brands including eBay and Swarovski. She joined impact.com in 2021 and was most recently customer success director, ANZ and SEA.
Mediahub hires dentsu's Linda Fagerlund to be chief strategy officer
Full-service agency Mediahub has appointed Linda Fagerlund to the newly created role of chief strategy officer, Australia and New Zealand. This is first significant hire since the agency restructured. Fagerlund, responsible for delivering Mediahub’s trans-Tasman strategic support for key clients, also joins the senior leadership team. She brings more than 15 years of diverse strategy experience to the role, which includes media, creative agencies and the publisher side, including Leo Burnett and News Corp.
Nicola Gold hired as APAC business director Allied Global Marketing
Allied Global Marketing, a full-service integrated marketing agency, has appointed Nicola Gold business director APAC, Brand Experience, effective immediately. Gold, based in Sydney, will report to Jamie Crick, managing director of the APAC region as well as to the executive vice presidents of Allied’s global brand experience team, Jonny and Paddy Davis.
Stuart Archibald leaves Archibald Williams to launch new agency
Stuart Archibald has left Archibald Williams, the independent agency he founded with Bram Williams in 2012. He is launching a new agency in Sydney and London, CA.5, offering an "alternative model" to the traditional agency structure and approach. CA.5 won’t have an existing team structure, rather a best-in-class team which is hand-picked for a client’s problem. The team will either embed or work externally with the aim to accelerate customer growth at speed.
Molasses appoints Nichole Donovan client director
Brand and design agency Molasses has appointed Nichole Donovan to the newly created role of client director. Donovan, who joined Molasses at the start of April, will manage the day-to-day projects for Molasses’ clients, as well as supporting business strategy and supporting the agency’s partners from an insight and innovation perspective.
Dan Talia joins Creative Natives as client partner
Creative, digital and marketing recruitment agency Creative Natives has appointed former creative services manager Dan Talia client partner for its Melbourne team. Talia started his career as a creative at Penguin Books before venturing agency-side to several network and independents including The Monkeys, JWT and Optimo. In 2022, after 15 years in various roles including client service and production, he went into recruitment with a deep understanding of the industry and its people.
New heads of sales at Pedestrian in Sydney and Melbourne
Pedestrian Group has promoted Spyros Asteriou to head of partnerships, NSW, to lead the company's sales team in Sydney. And Tess Lastra has joined Pedestrian to lead the sales team based in Melbourne.
History Will Be Kind with senior promotions and new hire
Creative communications agency History Will Be Kind (HWBK) has made two senior promotions and a new hire. Senior leads Lizzy Chadwick and Rachael Gadgil both step up into group account director roles. Gadgil's promotion follows six years with the agency delivering campaigns for long-standing clients such as Google, Hilton and McGrath Foundation. Chadwick's promotion comes after 18 months at the agency, where she’s brought experience across travel, tourism and lifestyle to the team, while leading a broad mix of clients including Celebrity Cruises, Little Moons and Life360. The promotions coincide with the hire of Brooke Gascoigne, who joins in the role of senior account executive from communications agency Adhesive.
