Movers & Shakers: Coles Media, CHEP Network, Merkle

It's hard to keep up with all the latest moves across media, marketing and advertising, so we've made a list. Check out the biggest moves in adland this week.

Nine's Paul Brooks joins Coles Media
Coles has appointed Nine Entertainment's Paul Brooks to the newly created role of general manager for Coles Media. He spent three years at Nine Entertainment as director of sales with responsibility for leading a large revenue-generating team across television, digital, radio, and publishing channels. He will now be responsible for the delivery of a new Coles Media operating model, leading the Coles Supplier Media Centre of Excellence. 

Hearts & Science names new CEO
Jane Stanley has been promoted to CEO of Hearts & Science Australia and New Zealand. The former head of Hearts & Science New Zealand replaces Jeremy Bolt who steps down but will remain part-time to support the transition. Stanley will continue to be based in New Zealand, taking on her extended duties across Australia with immediate effect.

Howatson + Company brings in Dom Hickey 
Dom Hickey has become chief strategy officer at Howatson+Company. Strategically, Hickey worked across every dimension of marketing from brand transformation to brand experience. Hickey will be assuming her new role effective immediately.

CX Lavender's Jamie Parfitt moves to whiteGREY
whiteGREY has appointed Jamie Parfitt as experience strategy director to drive brand and experience integration for clients across the agency. He will report to chief strategy officer Simon Wassef and James Keeler, chief experience officer. Parfitt joins whiteGREY from CX Lavender, where he was head of strategy. He led the development of customer experience, brand and communications strategies for clients including Westpac Group, nbn, RAA, Ausgrid and American Express.

New chief strategy officer for Cummins&Partners
Jeff Malone is the new chief strategy officer at Cummins&Partner. Malone was formerly in creative strategy client-side at Lion, and has also worked at agencies including DDB, MullenLowe, TBWA and Ogilvy. 

CHEP names Melbourne GM 
CHEP network has promoted Thomas Penn to Melbourne general manager. Penn has been the driving force behind countless client success, in addition to delivering award winning work across major clients including AGL, Flybuys, RMIT, T20 World Cup, St Vincent’s Hospital and La Trobe. Justin Hind, CEO at CHEP Network, recognises Thomas as a dedicated and committed worker and went on to say: “His progression as Melbourne General Manager recognises Thomas’ continuing commitment and impact across all parts of the business.”

Accenture Interactive's Steve Yurisich moves to Dentsu's Merkle
Dentsu's Merkle has hired Accenture Interactive's Steve Yurisich as chief growth officer. Yurisich forms part of Dentsu’s new executive talent line-up which includes Chris Bower as Solutions CEO, Kirsty Muddle as creative CEO and David Halter as chief strategy and growth officer. His remit is an all-encompassing growth practice, including developing and executing the strategies and frameworks necessary to strengthen net new and organic growth at scale, partnership alliances, industry programs and connectivity to how Merkle goes to market and its marketing activities.

JellySmack makes two new appointments
Global creator company JellySmack has made two appointments to its Australia and New Zealand team. Jacqueline Luu joins the company as Success manager AUNZ and Mariana Galez joins as creator sourcing coordinator AUNZ. In her role, Luu will work with the Success team to help JellySmack’s AUNZ stable of creators become successful across all social media platforms. Galez will act as the creator sourcing coordinator in order for media companies to monetise their content.

WIN News Queensland appoints news director
WIN News has appointed Christian Jantzen as Queensland news director. Jantzen has over 25 years' experience in the media as a presenter, reporter and producer. Prior to his WIN News appointment, Jantzen’s most recent roles have included national weekend sports editor for 10 News First and news presenter for 2GB.

Impact.com makes series of promotions
Impact.com has promoted Ayaan Mohamud from regional marketing director for APAC to the newly created position of regional vice president of marketing, APAC. Her remit includes further expanding the marketing team across the region. Mohamud has appointed Laurence Nelmes to the newly created role of marketing executive for AUNZ and is still actively recruiting for another team member in Sydney. Nelmes becomes the seventh member of the APAC marketing team having previously joined as a business development representative in March 2021. Tanya Suna has also been promoted to the newly created position of director of people and culture, APAC. Suna joined impact.com more than three years ago and has over 20 years’ experience in digital, media and tech startups.

Ovolo Hotels bolsters marketing team
Ovolo Hotels has boosted its marketing team with the appointment of Francis Graham as marketing and communications manager. Graham's focus surrounds the development of dynamic experiences for guests as travel resumes. Graham was previously at integrated marketing agency One Green Bean for three years. Mel Tan has been appointed as food & beverage marketing communications manager. Tan was most recently marketing and communications manager at The Point Group. Kim Pham has been appointed to the role of group digital marketing manager. Pham joins Ovolo after a five-year stint at Sydney digital marketing agency Advisible. Ovolo Group also promoted two marketing team members, with Victoria Ko becoming assistant marketing communications manager. Jonathan Jeremy becomes marketing communications manager for Mamaka By Ovolo in Bali.
