BMF appoints DDB's Stephen de Wolf chief creative officer
Creative agency BMF has appointed Stephen de Wolf chief creative officer. de Wolf joins BMF from DDB Australia where he spent the last three years as its national chief creative officer. During his time at DDB, de Wolf was also on the board of DDB’s Global Creative Council and served as the CCO of Smith Street, a specialist marketing agency servicing the Coles account. Prior to DDB, he was the CCO and partner of BBH in London, where he also sat on BBH’s Global Creative Board.
Justin Ruben jumps again, this time to his own shop
Creative director Justin Ruben has opened his own agency, Oblong Creative. "My inspiration for launching Oblong came from the desire to create an agency where we don’t just think about the work differently, but also the teams we put on projects," he said. His new venture comes after moving to Host/Havas in June last year as executive creative director from CHEP where he had been after returning to Australia from New York in mid-2021.
The Guardian's Mason Rook is the new CEO of Pedestrian
Nine has appointed Mason Rook CEO of youth publisher Pedestrian starting July 29. He replaces Matt Rowley, who announced his departure as part of a restructure and the closure of local versions of titles Kotaku, Gizmodo, Lifehacker, Vice, Refinery29. Rook joins from The Guardian, where he was commercial director. He was previously at ARN, The Daily Mail and Nine.
DDB Sydney appoints Matt Chandler CCO
DDB Sydney has appointed its executive creative director Matt Chandler to chief creative officer, effective immediately. Chandler joined the agency in 2014 as a copywriter, following stints in London at Saatchi & Saatchi and JWT. He rose to lead globally recognised work for DDB Sydney’s roster of long-term partners Westpac, McDonald’s and Volkswagen. During his time on the DDB creative leadership team, the agency has been awarded Cannes Gold, Spikes Grand Prix and last month, a Silver Lion at Cannes for its Original Mouthful campaign for McDonald’s.
JOLT appoints Donna Tauro group sales manager
Australian cross-channel media and EV charging network JOLT has appointed Donna Tauro group sales manager. Tauro will be responsible for managing sales across JOLT’s New South Wales and Queensland. She will be based in JOLT’s Sydney office, reporting to JOLT sales director (NSW and QLD), Hannah Pritchard. Tauro joins JOLT from Dentsu, where she was an investment director.
Creative agency NATION appoints first MD and new director
Independent marketing and communications agency NATION has made two key senior appointments. Joe Godsell joins NATION in the newly created role of managing director while long-term employee and current head of copy Katheryn Korczak has been promoted to director. Godsell was MD of TBWA Adelaide, a position he held for six years. Korczak has been at NATION for more than eight years, working with brands including South Australia Police, Beyond Bank and the South Australian Country Fire Service.
