Movers & Shakers: AANA, Wavemaker, MAXNETWORK, OzTAM, oOh!

It's hard to keep up with all the latest moves across media, marketing and advertising, so we've made a list. Check out some of the biggest moves this week.

Dentsu Creative's Kirsty Muddle joins AANA board

Kirsty Muddle, CEO of Dentsu Creative Australia & New Zealand, has been appointed a board member of the Australian Association of National Advertisers (AANA). Martin Brown, chair of AANA’s board, said the industry body is delighted to welcome Kirsty as a valuable addition to the board.  

Jason Morrison steps down from 7NEWS Sydney

Jason Morrison, after eight years leading the 7NEWS Sydney newsroom, is stepping down to pursue other opportunities. He is being replaced by Neil Warren who leads 7NEWS Brisbane and Gold Coast newsrooms. The current deputy news director, Michael Coombes, replaces Warren. Warren and Coombes assume their new roles on Monday, June 19.

Wavemaker names Mondelēz International's Sindhuja Rai APAC CEO

GroupM's Wavemaker has appointed Singapore-based Sindhuja Rai as CEO in Asia Pacific, reporting to global CEO Toby Jenner. Rai joins from Mondelēz International where she currently leads global media investment and AMEA consumer experience. With 20+ years in marketing, her experience spans other media agencies such as Mindshare and Publicis Media.

OzTAM CEO Doug Peiffer steps down

Following the rollout of the Virtual Australia ratings system known as VOZ, OzTAM CEO Doug Peiffer has informed the Board he will step down. Peiffer has led OzTAM for more than 12 years, evolving the television ratings service to capture the changing ways in which Australians consume video – including online delivered broadcast content (BVOD) and Australia’s new all-screen, cross-platform Total TV database, VOZ.

Laura Aldington, Simone Gupta and Jon Austin launch agency Supermassive

Former Havas senior executives Laura Aldington, Simone Gupta and Jon Austin have launched Supermassive, an independent creative agency with an ambition to set a new benchmark in non-traditional advertising and earned media. Aldington is a former CEO of Host/Havas and Host, Simone Gupta CEO of Havas PR, and Jon Austin is the former executive creative director of Host/Havas and Host.

Kyle Jonsson appointed to MAXNETWORK executive team

Kyle Jonsson has been appointed to the executive team at influencer and creator agency MAXNETWORK. Jonsson has served as the creative director at MAXMEDIALAB and lead the MAXCREATIVE department for the past two years - both of which fall under the MAXNETWORK umbrella, which also includes MAXCONNECTORS and MAXCo.LAB.

oOh!'s Jamie Wood departs, Ben Peel promoted to lead Queensland sales

oOh!media has promoted Ben Peel to Queensland sales director, after Jamie Wood exits the business to join Boost Media International in a global role, AdNews can reveal. Peel, who has held a variety of roles during his eight years at oOh!, will take on the Queensland sales lead role from his current position as group sales leader - Victoria.

Edge expands creative with three young guns

Independent creative agency Edge has hired Georgia O’Sullivan and James Mukheiber, and promoted Sophie Millican. O’Sullivan  joins as junior designer. Mukheiber joins from We Are Social, making the leap from account manager to creative. Millican has been promoted from the design department to junior art director. 

Nine names Cameron King director of product, commercial and sales platforms

Nine has appointed Cameron King to the newly created role of director of product, commercial and sales platforms within its Product division. This new function is the next step in the growth of Nine’s Product capability across the broader business.

Connected Digital reveals client wins and key hire

Connected has appointed Nicole Smith as senior account director. Smith brings over eight years of industry experience across agency and client-side roles in Australia and the UK. Smith has worked across a variety of industries including FMCG, printing, automotive, and charity.
