Saatchi & Saatchi has hired Mike Spirkovski as ECD. He starts next month, having spent a year as top creative at Iris Sydney, and fills the chair vacated when Damon Stapleton left for DDB New Zealand.
Spirkovski has amassed a notable haul of awards over the years, including a Cannes Titaniu, some golds, silvers and bronzes, an ADMA grand prix, and he was one of the brains behind Earth Hour. His most recent campaign for UNICEF and Qantas Change For Good initiative 5 Fund is gaining international recognition.
But CEO Mike Rebelo said he's not let that go to his head.
“Apart from being highly awarded, Mike is a truly respected and admired creative leader and has created some of the most interesting and progressive work around. Most importantly, the chemistry with Mike is spot on. He has the perfect blend of humility and hunger that will be an inspirational force in the hallways of 70 George Street.”
Spirkovski, who's worked at Droga5, Clemenger BBDO, Leo Burnett and founded his own agency, Cassius Clay, said joining the agency as ECD was an "incredible opportunity" and that he was looking forward to driving the business and partnering with Rebelo and creative planning director Jason Lonsdale.
