Advertising industry figure Ellie Rogers, ANZ industry director at Meta, has left the social media platform.

Rogers, formerly of Ikon Communications, Profero and Carat, is taking the next three months off, with one eye open for the next role.

Meta, Facebook’s parent, this month announced its first job cuts in its 18-year history, axing 11,000 jobs,  representing 13% of headcount, cutting discretionary spending and extending a hiring freeze.

“After nearly a decade, my time at Meta has come to an end and I am now looking for my next leadership and board positions,” she wrote on LinkedIn.

“The recent economic downturn has affected the work of many, and the support I’ve witnessed and felt myself for those also impacted has been heart warming."

Will Easton, managing director, Meta ANZ: "Ellie has been a valued and much-loved member of the Meta ANZ Leadership team for the past decade.

"As our industry director, she led our relationships with agencies and made many important contributions to Meta’s growth and success in this market. I want to thank Ellie for her strong partnership and wish her all the best for her future endeavours, at which I have no doubt she’ll succeed."

Ellie Rogers: “I’m beyond grateful to Meta, and our partners and proud of the incredible things we achieved together.

“As part of Meta’s ANZ executive leadership team, we took the business to the multi billion dollar company it is today, we helped small and big businesses grow their customer base and we had a lot of fun creating memories & friendships that will last forever.

“Over the last fortnight I have been reminded of 2 things:

“1. Community is everything and the Australian marketing community really holds its own. To everyone who has called to check in, sent flowers, sent gin, sent me a funny memory, shared leadership roles or messaged me with kind words - it means a lot.

“2. When one door closes another door opens. I will always cherish my time at meta, but the prospect of being part of the next company’s growth journey is exciting. Two weeks on and I’ve had some fantastic conversations and looking forward to 2023.

“What’s next? I will take the next 3 months to be with my family, and slow down a few notches. I will be on the look out for my next leadership and boards roles in the new year.

“If there’s a role you think I could be just the ticket for then I’d love to hear from you and I can be contacted here - elliemay1979@gmail.com”
