Melbourne Football Club and IG Australia launch final episode of The Melbourne Mindset

IG and Melbourne Football Club, in collaboration with media agency Wavemaker, Dentsu Creative Public Relations and creative agency Sunday Gravy, has launched the final episode in its ‘The Melbourne Mindset' series.

The series investigates the psychological side of AFL football by sharing rich stories that would typically not make it out of the walls of the Melbourne Football Club.  

The third episode, with Melbourne Dee’s star Christain Petracca and Australian sports commentator Hamish McLachlan, explores how Petracca has overcome self-doubt on and off the field to go on to win a premiership, best on ground for the grand final and have the most disposals ever for a Grand Final.

Melbourne Football Club’s CEO, Gary Pert, said the three episodes feature the key leaders of the football program; Max Gawn, Jack Viney and Christian Petracca’s.

"They all show different ways in which the three players have created a strong and resilient mindset to ensure peak performance, on and off the field," he said.

IG CEO - APAC and Africa, Kevin Algeo, said people often speak about the physical health of a football player, but don’t often have open conversations about the psychological side of the game.

“In football and in trading the mind is one of the most powerful tools players and traders have access to. And we know how much influence the mind can have on peak performance," he said.

“In Episode 3, Christian takes us on his own journey and how he learnt to live with his doubts and use mental fortitude and focus to succeed on and off the field.”

This year, the series has showcased the importance of The Melbourne Mindset for both traders and players, said Algeo. 

“We want to encourage more conversations around how people can rethink their mindset for peak performance We know this to be as important in trading as it is in football. IG is proud to support our traders as well as Melbourne’s players committed to the mindset," he said.

This series is the first content collaboration between Melbourne Football Club and IG since their partnership began in 2015.
