Inside the Nine and SCA deal

The Australian Financial Review (AFR) has revealed details of the landmark regional affiliation agreement between Nine and Southern Cross.

It says that under the deal Southern Cross will pay Nine 50% of its television revenue, a jump from the 34% it currently pays Ten.

Nine is also thought to be boosting its ad spend on SCA's radio assets by around $10 million and will be increasing spending on its news services in regional areas.

The AFR is also reporting that advertising on Southern Cross' radio network will include contra deals around Nine's sporting assets.

Google looking within for Australian CEO role

Google is looking to appoint an internal Australian candidate to take up the role of Australia and New Zealand CEO according to the AFR.

It's reporting that the frontrunner for the new role is a Google executive thought to have overseas experience, leading the pack in a final shortlist of possible successors.

Google has previously looked externally for CEO in this market including Maile Carnegie who joined from Proctor & Gamble, Nick Leeder from News Corp and Fairfax executive Karim Temsamani.

ABC news set for budget cut

ABC's Enchanced Newsgathering budget is thought to be in the firing line of budget cuts by the Turnbull government, according to The Australian.

The broadcaster's current $20 million a year grant will shrink to $15 million a year, with it thought the ABC will look to further cut jobs and services to its news division as a result of the change.

Ten and WIN to sign deal

Also in The Australian, Win Corporation and Ten are thought to be on the brink of signing a television affiliate deal, with a partnership expected this week.

It is reporting that Ten is likely to make a deal with WIN for less than 40% of its revenue in exchange for content.
