More Facebook miscalculations

According to The Australian, Facebook has been hit by another measurement miscalculation. The paper says its video streams in the local market are artificially “inflated” and that online measurement firm Nielsen is investigating this.
A spokeswoman for Nielsen said it was unclear by how much Facebook’s streaming numbers were overstated. AdNews is also awaiting comments from Facebook and Nielsen on this. Last month it emerged that Facebook had been over-inflating video view metrics for around two years,

Fairfax and Nine talk about post-reform deal

High-level talks are taking place between Fairfax Media and Nine Entertainment about how the two companies could consolidate post-media reforms, the The Australian reports. Although a straight merger is believed to be off the table, other deals are being mooted that could see Fairfax offload its 50% share in SVOD Stan, its events arm and a 54.5% stake in Macquarie Media for an equity share in Nine. This would see Fairfax focus on its core newspaper business and booming property listings business Domain. Both media companies declined to comment.

Freeview FV mobile app to launch in November

Freeview's streaming aggregator app, will combine 15 free-to-air channels and catch-up content, will launch next month. The app, first announced in March, makes it easier for viewers to watch commercial TV content on mobile devices and is a response to changing consumer behaviours. At present, viewers can watch FTA TV content via individual TV network apps but not all in one place. Last week the radio industry launched its own streaming app, RadioApp.
