Media and marketers get the memo - 'The days of tokenism are over'

George Pesutto, founder director of Global Media Solutions Group - specialists in international and domestic multicultural advertising – will host a live Q&A session with Dr Mehreen Faruqi, keynote speaker at AdNews Live: Reframing Australia on 15 November.

Pesutto has worked in the media and advertising industry for more than 27 years, including senior commercial positions with News Corp, Fairfax and Time Inc.  As GM, he headed Roy Morgan Research’s Media and Communications division.

Global Media Solutions Group credentials in international and domestic multicultural marketing is endorsed by a client list that includes companies such as Union Pay International and Taiwan Tourism.

Dr Faruqi, meanwhile, will reflect on her experiences in politics, engineering and academia and how excluding cultural diversity is not just an oversight, it is a failure to represent or reach the clear majority of Australians who are multicultural, or value multiculturalism as a core identity.

“The days of tokenism are over,” she says. “It is time for us all to live up to our responsibilities in shaping and showing Australia’s story.”

Faruqi and Pesutto’s Q&A is expected to lift the lid on the current state of play across media and adland. This is one not to be missed.

Other speakers include former MLA’s Andrew Howie and The Monkeys’ Scott Nowell who will exclusively reveal the strategy behind MLA’s You Never Lamb Alone, as well as a panel of industry experts including Thang Ngo, Lou Petrolo, Masheila Pillay and Lorraine Jokovic, who will take on some of the problems encountered by brands when trying to reach our super-diverse population in a live forum.

AdNews Live: Reframing Australia takes place on the morning of November 15th at Monkey Baa, Darling Quarter, Sydney.

Tickets are available on a 3 for the price of 2 basis. Please contact Grace for more information.
