McCann Worldgroup Sydney strategy director Mark Pollard is leaving the agency at the end of the month to head to New York.
Pollard, who started working at McCann in January 2009, would not reveal his new role. However, in his "Life. Then Strategy" blog he stated: "I just came back from New York where I met a lot of different companies and spoke to a lot of different people."
The agency is currently searching for a replacement. In the meantime, McCann's national strategy director Helen Karabassis will oversee the Sydney strategy department.
McCann Worldgroup chairman & chief executive officer Chris Mort told AdNews: "Mark has made a great contribution to McCann. His role in the agency’s reinvention over the past two years has been significant and has helped to accelerate a momentum and hunger for new media and technology in the company.
"His skills complemented Helen Karabassis and newly appointed strategist Sarah Addison nicely and we are now actively looking in the market for a similarly profiled strategist. We do indeed wish Mark and his family well in New York."
Pollard was previously lead digital strategist and brand planner at Leo Burnett, digital strategist and producer at MassMedia Studios and online producer and strategist at Singleton Ogilvy & Mather. He is also responsible for the launch of hip hop magazine Stealth.
McCann Sydney recently appointed former McCann Erickson New York senior vice president, group creative director Michael Raso as executive creative director. Raso replaced creative director Vince McSweeney, who became executive creative director at McCann Central in Birmingham, UK.
