Maxus has signalled that it will boost its capabilities in innovation and partnerships by appointing Shivani Maharaj from fellow GroupM agency MediaCom, while also building a content marketing capability.

She will head take the new role of head of innovation and partnerships, a signal that Maxus is keen to boost its presence in the sector.

Maxus confirmed the news to AdNews this morning, saying the appointment would boost its capability in the space.

Maharaj has worked in implementation planning and investment for nine years, with brand clients including PharmaCare, Audi Australia, Canon Australia and Trimex.

The new role will see Maharaj tasked with building the sponsorship offering of the media agency, alongside a renewed push into content marketing.

Maxus CEO Jon Chadwick told AdNews this morning that it had thought about building a content marketing capability into the agency since the new year.

"It's something that brands we work with wanted and were pushing for. Brands like GSK and Suzuki have been talking to us about getting more content marketing into the mix, so obviously we wanted to be a part of that," Chadwick said.

He said that the plan was to build capability from within, but didn't rule out more hires as its offering beefed up.

Maxus' global CEO, Lindsay Pattison, recently told AdNews that Australia was viewed as one of four growth markets.
