Channel Ten has cooked up a winner with Masterchef, with the finale and the winner announcement taking out the top two spots for the night in the overnight metro ratings from Oztam.
1.7 million people tuned in to see Brent Owens crowned Masterchef for 2014, beating Laura Cassai to the title in the final that saw the contestants have to take on a mystery box challenge, cooking for their loved ones and then finally a pressure test.
The show rated well across both slots with 1.65 million people tuning in to watch the two battle it out.
The success of the Masterchef final saw Ten lift its overall audience share to 35.2%, coming out in front of Channel 7 on 22.4% and Channel Nine on 21.5%.
Coming in third and fourth spots were Nine News 6:30 and Nine News gaining an audience of 1.18 and 1.53 million respectively.
Seven News followed in fifth with an audience of 1.11 million followed by Seven News/Today Tonight with an audience of 1.02 million.
Nine's The Block Glasshouse received an audience of 926,000 to take out seventh spot, followed by A Current Affair in eighth with an audience of 910,000.
Seven's Home and Away came in ninth with an audience of 873,000 and rounding out the Top 10 was ABC News with an audience of 846,000.
Ten's coverage of The Glasgow Commonwealth Games came in at 14th with an audience of 721,000.
