Nine's Married at First Sight finale and follow up shows have dominated Wednesday night ratings clocking around 1.1 million metro viewers. This is less than last year's finale of the first series, which posted 1.29 million metro viewers.

The finale saw one couple, Simon and Xavier, split up even though the Xavier took Simone on a date to a Western Sydney Wanderers soccer match.

The other two couples still left in the reality TV experiment stayed together, despite the show's editing strongly suggesting long distance couple Mark and Chrissie wouldn't survive.

In the follow up show we find out that one of the couples that split up earlier in the series, Jono and dog lover Clare, have moved on, with Clare making a fist of life as a qualified Uber driver.

The show helped Nine's main channel (22.5%) edge Seven (20.8%) and Ten (16.9%) in audience share.

Seven's Home and Away (772,000), House Rules (718,000) and Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2016 (690,000) were the highest rating non-news and current affairs shows after Married at First Sight.
