M&C Saatchi Sydney has appointed Mandie van der Merwe and Avish Gordhan as joint executive creative directors of M&C Saatchi Sydney.
The pair, who also freelanced on many projects, have previously worked as creative directors at Cummins&Partners, where they led the agency to be one of the top 20 independent agencies in the world and have been recognised for multiple awards.
M&C Saatchi CCO Cam Blackley described the appointment as a 'coup' for the agency.
“As we look to flex our creative capability and offer, I couldn’t think of a better, more creative duo to fill the ECD hot seats,” Black says.
“The duo are pure quality. Throw group creative director Andy Flemming into the equation and we have the right leaders in place to really make some truly special work in the foreseeable future.”
Both van der Merwe and Gordhan have 15 years of experience across Australia, South Africa and the Middle East, including as art directors at TBWA Sydney in their previous roles.
Van der Merwe says Blackley's creativity attracted the pair instantly.
“Blackley is really articulate about the vision for M&C Saatchi,” van der Merwe said.
“Everyone here has a real love for this business and there’s a determination to shape not just this agency, but also the industry.”
They begin their new roles immediately.
