The Liberal and Labor party both ramped up their advertising spend last week, according to Nielsen data, as the election campaign snapped back in action after a “truce” over the Easter break.

Nielsen figures, which cover ad spend across TV, radio and print, show that the Liberal party spent $1,100,000 from 22 April to 28 April. This is compared to just $260,000 the week prior.

Labor followed with $920,000 over the same period, up from $610,000 the week prior.

It was also the biggest spending week for Clive Palmer’s United Australia Party (UAP) since 11 March, which splashed $2,700,000, up from $2,015,000 the week prior.

Since 11 March, the Liberal Party has spent a total of $3,460,000, while Labor has spent a total of $3,330,000. However, both remain dwarfed by UAP’s total of $14,495,000.
