Twitter Australia has released its 2014 year on Twitter list, with a slew of data out on what tweaked on Twitter during the year.
The most re-tweeted tweet belonged to New Zealand singer Lorde, who tweeted the following observation on her image being photoshopped:
Meanwhile the impact of Phillip Hughes' recent death was felt on Twitter, with tweets relating to the tragedy one-third of the most re-tweeted list with tweets from Cricket Australia, Michael Clarke, David Warner and Brett Lee among others ranking high in the list.
Elsewhere, the highest-rising hashtags were #auspol, #qanda, demonstrating an ongoing fascination with Twitter as a political engagement tool.
Channel 7 will also be happy with the list, with #mkr and #xfactorau beating out #theBachelorAU and #BBAU as the fastest-rising TV-related trends.
Meanwhile, the most tweeted about moments in Australia included Rememberance Day, reaction to the federal government's budget, and sport controversies.
Teenage heartthrob Cody Simpson continued his meteoric rise by finishing off the year as the Australian celebrity with the highest following on Twitter, followed by Hugh Jackman, Luke Hemmings, Callum Hood, and Michael Clifford.
The fastest-rising Australian Twitter accounts included Iggy Azalea, Lorde, and Luke Hemmings.
