Melbourne university La Trobe is pitching its media account, AdNews reveals.

At the account's peak it was valued at around $2 million but is now worth around $1 million over three years, an industry insider told AdNews.

The account does not include digital spend as that's done in-house.

The incumbent agency is dentu's Carat, housed out of Melbourne, which has held the account for more than a decade.

However Carat is not repitching, a dentsu spokesperson confirmed to AdNews.

"After a long and wonderful tenure working with La Trobe University, Carat has declined the opportunity to re-pitch for the account and has resigned from the brand's media account," the spokesperson said.

"We wish La Trobe and the team the very best in the future and thank them for many years of partnership."

It is expected the university's creative agency CHEP Melbourne will be trying for the media account.

The brand provided no comment to AdNews.

In February, La Trobe will see a new vice-chancellor and president with Theo Farrell taking over from exiting John Dewar.

La Trobe's CMO Natalie Ellisdon and director of brand & creative Darcy Muller have both been in the marketing department for under three years.

La Trobe's last campaign The Impact is Real in 2022 demonstrated the real impact that the university's students, academics and partners are having on people’s lives.
