Australian Radio Network (ARN) has announced that Jane Hall will be leaving its Kiis Melbourne station following comments earlier in the week that it would be overhauling its “disappointing” Melbourne station.
Hall and co-host Matt Tilley started presenting Kiis Melbourne's breakfast show after the station was rebranded earlier in the year.
ARN national content director Duncan Campbell said Hall will finish on air at the end of the year and a replacement is already in the works.
“Several months ago Jane let us know that she would like to take time out personally next year and also return to acting,” Campbell said.
“Since then, we’ve been planning her replacement to work alongside Matt Tilley. This person has now been confirmed and we will be announcing in the coming weeks.”
Tilley added: “And while I can’t say too much for now, 2016 is certainly going to be a big and exciting year for us at Kiis and I can't wait to share the news.”
In the latest radio survey earlier this week, Kiis Melbourne dropped across most of its day parts, with just a 5.7% audience share in breakfast.
Campbell said the network would be making changes to its Melbourne station as it looked to replicate the success Kiis has had in Sydney. In Sydney, breakfast team Kyle and Jackie O are routinely in the top or second place FM shows.
“We're very aware there are issues with Kiis in Melbourne,” Campbell told AdNews at the time. “It's a disappointing result and we have plans in place to correct that, which we will be unfolding over the coming months.
While Campbell remained tight lipped on what those changes were, he said they will ensure 2016 is a better year for Kiis in Melbourne.
“We've had a wholesale look at the station – every aspect of it – and those changes aren't isolated to one part of the radio station.”
