Carat has named Jonathan Chadwick as CEO for the Asia Pacific region as Sean O’Brien moves to a wider group role.
The move marks Chadwick's return to media agencies, formerly the CEO of GroupM’s Maxus before being promoted to chief strategy officer of GroupM in 2015.
He held the role for just over a year before leaving the WPP-owned group to start his own consulting business.
His appointment follows the news that Sean O’Brien has shifted from the role to head of the MKTG, the group's lifestyle and experiential marketing agency, and out-of-home offering Postercope.
As well as overseeing MKTG and Postercope, O'Brien will become chairman of Denstu Aegis Network Media. He will also oversee media agencies Carat, Vizeum and Dentsu X.
With Chadwick's background managing blue chip brands like Unilever and Nike, Dentsu Aegis Network APAC CEO Nick Waters says he's a great fit for the holding group.
“He has an exceptional range of experience in the media business and has a strong focus on client service, product quality and team culture. He is a wonderful fit for Carat, which is the world’s leading media agency, and consistently recognised by RECMA as the highest-quality agency in the Asia Pacific,” Waters says.
The position will enable Dentsu Aegis Network to "streamline" its portfolio in an "efficient manner", he says.
“Each of the agency leaders is responsible for managing their business, clients and people, but will work to a single collective agenda under Sean’s direction, increasing synergies and effectiveness.”
