Industry recuiter Simon Hadfield is seeing a lot of jobs activity around strategy and design agencies.
Hadfield, the newly appointed managing partner at DMCG, gets asked every day how he thinks the jobs market is tracking.
"And yes it does feel like we are lifting out of a dark cloud," he told AdNews.
"The smaller to mid sized independent creative agencies feel like they are having a revival and starting to really gain traction as more of the multinationals fold in to one another.
"Are we finally seeing a resurgence of locally owned shops? I hope so.
"The same challenges however seem to be lingering. Procurement see their role as reducing agency fees at the expense of burn out both agency and client side as well as the continuing and growing trend towards project based ‘relationships’ versus retained monogamous partnerships."
His tips for candidates?
"It’s a cliché, but you need to stand out. Think laterally and creatively about how you apply or approach a business or recruiter. You need to be memorable."
