Media agency Initiative has, for the third year in a row, published Australia’s Hot 100 cultural moments.

The list recognises the power of cultural influences in driving people’s choices in life.

This year ranges from #toiletpapergate to Tiger King, WAP to an AFL Grand Final held outside Victoria.

Examined through 10 separate cultural verticals, the list reviews all the moments and news that mattered in Gaming, Movies, Screens, Fashion, Memes, News, Sport, Audio, Influencers and Music.

However, unlike other years, Initiative has ditched the standard report or website format in favour of an Instagram account.

“We all know that culture is a living, breathing and ever-evolving aspect of our lives," says chief strategy officer Chris Colter.

"While our Hot 100 has become a sought-after archive for clients and business partners, we didn’t just want to limit the surfacing of these trends to a one-off event. So we took the novel approach of creating an Instagram account to provide a constant feed of cultural peaks to keep people updated throughout the year.”
