Meet this week's industry profile Publift co-founder and CEO Colm Dolan.
Time in current role/time at the company:
Four years.
How would you describe what the company does?
Publift is an ad tech business that provides cutting-edge technology solutions to online publishers.
What do you do day-to- day?
Acquire new business, train team, work on strategy, manage partner relations and ensure good team culture.
Define your job in one word:
Mentorship.
I got into advertising/ad tech/marketing etc because:
A guy I knew worked at Google, he said it was brilliant to work at so I applied.
What’s the biggest challenge you face in your role?
Time management.
What’s the biggest industry-wide challenge you’d like to see tackled?
Good investigative journalism. I’d love to see quality investigative articles been rewarded and more investment made into tackling real local and global issues rather than celebrity gossip.
Previous industry related companies you have worked at:
Google, Telstra.
Who is/has been a great mentor to you and why?
My parents. They taught me values that still resonate with me today that are crucial in running a business.

Words of advice for someone wanting a job like yours?
You've got to have passion and a reason why you are doing it.
If I wasn't doing this for a living, I'd be:
Premier league footballer.
My mantra / philosophy is:
Work smarter not harder.
My favourite advert is (and why):
Ki-ora advert from the 90s. “It's too orangey for crows...It's just for me and my dog”. Love that ad. Always made me smile.
Music and TV streaming habits. What do you subscribe to?
Spotify and Netflix.
Tell us one thing people at work don’t know about you?
I was a pretty chubby kid.
In five years' time I'll be:
Mentoring and coaching young people.
