Independent agency Hyland has hired Maria Casas as head of social since winning new business during the pandemic.

Casas has worked both client and agency side, including as group and social media business director at Social Soup, head of content at Ikon, and head of social media at Saatchi & Saatchi.

Hyland founder Virginia Hyland says she has known Casas for some time and felt her attitude matched the agency's culture.

"We welcome Maria with open arms and it’s so great to be hiring in an industry that has been challenged by COVID this year," Hyland says.

"As our agency now integrates all communication disciplines, Maria will play an integral role with our clients."

Casas says she couldn't be more thrilled to join Hyland.

"At a time like this, I believe brands need to consolidate their investments and find ways to make their efforts work harder. I can’t think of a better placed agency to deliver this for their clients," Casas says.

"An integrated approach that is genuinely customer centric is only achievable in an agency that has no bias towards channel and execution. That is Hyland in a nutshell. It’s an absolute privilege to be part of Virg’s team.”

The new appointment comes following Hyland's expanded remit with client Church & Dwight which sees the agency now manage local social media and content across the consumer goods company's brands.
