How far advertising agencies will go to win an award

Canada's Zulu Alpha Kilo has done it again, this time digging at agencies who will do almost anything to win an advertising award.

We last heard from the agency in a paraody called Billy’s Lemonade, about a boy who sells his drink stand to a company from New York.

This shows what really happens inside an independent agency when it gets taken over by a big player.

Now Zulu Alpha Kilo has turned its attention to awards in Awards Gone Wild:

After the pandemic shut down most international shows last year, this year’s awards season felt intense with two years’ worth of work eligible to enter.

This inspired Zulu Alpha Kilo founder and CCO Zak Mroueh: “This year, it really hit home how much time, effort and money we all spend on awards shows. In speaking with leaders in other agencies, there were times where it felt like we’re all working in the case study business, not the advertising business.

“With this video, we wanted to poke fun at ourselves as an industry, while also starting a conversation about getting back to awarding real work."

Awards Gone Wild was unveiled at this week's Agency of the Year in Toronto.
