The Mona (Museum of Old and New Art) in Hobart has created a guerrilla-style campaign to lure WorldPride attendees to Tasmania.
Robbie Brammall, director of marketing & communications at Mona: "How do you encourage 300,000 WorldPride revellers to abandon Sydney and party in Tassie instead?
"Well, you invite them to the woodchopping. We did it Nike-style, with a parody TTL campaign heroing our un-celebrity timber athletes, slow-motion log montages, and a critical mass of latex.
"Huge thanks to artists Pony Express, production partners Revolver and The Glue Society, our co-conspirators Tourism Tasmania, and the crack timber team at Mona."

Tourism Tasmania: "Presented as part of Mona Foma’s 2023 festival program, The Tasmanian Queer Woodchop Championship sees the classic country-show competition reimagined as a joyous, queer festivity and interactive performance with live music and commentary.
"It aims to celebrate past and present woodchopping champions, the strong legacy of the sport in Tasmania, and celebrate LGBTQIA+ pride."
The free event is being held at Mona on the Tennis Court at 3:30pm, Friday, February 24.
