House of the Dragon has set a new viewing record with 1.235 million viewers watching the first episode on FOXTEL and BINGE since premiering last Monday (August 22).

Monday’s first episode also became the biggest premiere for any show in history across FOXTEL and BINGE and continued to grow across the week as people caught up on demand.

BINGE executive director, Alison Hurbert-Burns, said: “With so much anticipation around the series, we knew House of the Dragon was going to be popular but we have been blown away by the response to the opening episode.

“The show has launched to strong critical acclaim from reviewers here and around the world and we are so thrilled that the series has reignited Game of Thrones fans, and brought in a new audience as viewers tune in to see what all the hype is about.

“We can’t wait to bring the remaining episodes to fans each Monday as the story of House Targaryen unfolds, and we are incredibly excited the series has been renewed for a second season.”

Based on George R.R. Martin’s fantasy novel “Fire & Blood,” House of the Dragon is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of House Targaryen.

House of the Dragon is available to watch on FOXTEL in 4K Ultra HD and stream on BINGE with new episodes each Monday.
