SYDNEY: Austereo has announced that the giants of commercial radio, Hamish Blake and Andy
Lee, will be scaling back their daily show to one show per week in 2011.
The due have been in contract negotiations with Austereo for several weeks, and have
decided to cut back their show so they can pursue other projects, which they have not
specified.
"Many ideas have been put on the backburner over the last 5 years as they couldn’t work in
conjunction with daily radio. We thought 2011 was a good time to put some of those ideas
on the front-burner," Lee said.
The new contract has a two-year expiration date. Austereo chief executive Guy Dobson said:
"It's great to have Hamish & Andy continuing to share the journey across the next two
years."
The "Hamish & Andy Show" consistently achieves the top commercial FM ratings in Australia.
It will continue to run in its current format until 3 December, and will re-appear in its
new form in 2011.
The new format will play on radio, and will also be available as a podcast.
