Groupon has appointed Dane Sharp as head of marketing to oversee its customer marketing in Australia and New Zealand.
Sharp joins from McDonald’s, where he spent the past three years as digital experience manager in Australia, helping lead the launch and growth of McDonald’s mobile ordering app, Monopoly app, digital merchandising inside the restaurant and various digital commerce platforms.
He brings more than 15 years' experience across marketing, media and digital, and has worked for companies including Rip Curl, Under Armour and eBay.
In his new role, Sharp will be tasked with leading Groupon's consumer marketing team and drive a strategy that will focus on Groupon’s customers and their needs, relevance and the end-to-end customer journey.
"I'm really excited to start work with Groupon in what's a thrilling and evolving time in smart commerce,” Sharp says.
“We're a global marketplace and a reliable enabler to every day buying habits, so our relevance and relationship with customers needs to continue adapting at the pace of growing consumer expectations and shopping opportunities."
Sharp is looking to fulfil Groupon's mission to become a "daily habit" in local commerce and plans focus on "one-to-one relationships" with customers moving forward.
“As we continue to fulfill our purpose of building strong communities through thriving small businesses and national scale partnerships, we'll also strengthen our personal connection with customers and work on communicating the right messages at the right times," he says.
