GroupM has axed its global agency chief executive roles at EssenceMediacom, Mindshare and Wavemaker as part of a major centralisation push.

There is no change to local Australian teams/market.

"Together with our full leadership team, we're building something extraordinary: seamless global solutions that unlock unprecedented value for our clients and partners," said GroupM CEO Brian Lesser.

Emily Del Greco, a partner at McKinsey, will join GroupM in February as global chief operating officer. She will work closely with Brian Lesser on operationalising the group's vision for the future.

She will be responsible for Operations, Partnerships, Strategy, and Corporate Development across GroupM and will oversee our Activation and Investment practices.

Adam Gerhart (global CEO of Mindshare) will become global chief client officer. He will be focused on creating best in class client service through client growth and transformation. He will oversee our major accounts and client engagement strategy across all agencies globally, working in close partnership with WPP.

Toby Jenner (global CEO Wavemaker) will become global chief business officer. He will be responsible for GroupM’s to market proposition, growth, marketing, and cross-WPP integration projects. He will support Brian Lesser in driving the group’s development and our country and clients’ business opportunities.

Mark Patterson will become global president, markets and business Operations. He will oversee our APAC and LATAM markets and drive several key business initiatives including investment governance and the expansion of our offshore capabilities and entertainment and sports offer.

The company said the new roles reinforce commitment to collaborating and winning as a unified team. They are designed to support the delivery of integrated solutions that ensure clients benefit fully from the investments we are making in data, technology, and our people.

There are no departures associated with this change, GroupM said.

Stuart Diamond (CFO), Marie-Claire Barker (CPO), Sharb Farjami (CEO NA), Josh Krichefski (CEO EMEA), and Cesar Recalde (CEO LATAM) continue in their roles as part of GroupM’s global leadership team.

Agencies will continue to be managed at the country level by their market CEOs.

Global agency operations will be managed by a president for global client solutions who will oversee delivery for global and multinational clients at each agency.
