Grand Final fever helped Nine beat Seven

It turns out that Sam Newman and dancing AFL players can still pull a crowd, with The AFL version of The Footy Show helped Nine win the night over Channel Seven by over 8% on the metro figures.

The Grand Final extravaganza was the highest-rating program in the Melbourne market, drawing in 535,000 viewers according to OzTAM's overnight figures. Outside fo the AFL heartland, 159,000 viewers were watching in Sydney.

Overall, it took out the fourth highest spot for the night, grabbing 979,000 viewers.

It added to the ratings juggernaught which is The Block: Glasshouse, which again won the night for Channel Nine.

Ten's The Bachelor rebounded from Wednesday's showing of 640,000 with an extra 128,000 viewers tuning in last night.

Channel Nine took an overall 33.7% of the metro market, while Channel Seven followed with 25.6%, Network Ten hit 19.1%, the ABC got a 16.7% share and SBS had 4.8% for the night.
