Google is making it easier to find out about the ads it serves via search, YouTube and display.
The Ads Transparency Centre, a searchable hub of all ads served from verified advertisers, is rolling out around the world.
“We know how important it is for you to learn more about the ads you see online,” says Alejandro Borgia, director, product management, Ads Safety.
“More than 30 million people interact with Google’s ads transparency and control menus every day.
“That’s why over the past five years, we’ve invested in delivering better ways for you to learn more about the ads you see and keep you in control.”
The Ads Transparency Centre reveals: Which ads were shown in a certain region; the last date an ad ran; and the format of the ad.
Look up the advertiser and learn more before purchasing or visiting its website.
“We’re committed to protecting our users by creating a safer, more trustworthy and accountable ad experience,” says Borgia.
“With the Ads Transparency Centre, you’re never in the dark about the ads you see on Google.
“To help our users make informed decisions online — no matter where they are — we’ll continue rolling out the Ads Transparency Centre globally over the coming weeks.”
Meta launched its Ad Library in 2019.
