Foxtel’s total closing paid subscribers grew 6% to more than 4.5 million in the March quarter, according to numbers released by News Corp.
The growth compared to the same three months last year came mainly came from streaming platforms.
BINGE made up more than 1.5 million subscribers and Kayo 1.3 million. Foxtel Now dropped to 178,000 from 215,000.
Broadcast subscriber churn improved to 12.3%, the lowest since 2016, from 14.3%.
Streaming subscription revenues represented about 26% of total circulation and subscription revenues in the quarter, compared to 20% in the prior year.
Foxtel reported revenue of $US477 million, down $17 million or 3%, due to a $28 million, or 5%, negative impact from foreign currency fluctuations. Adjusted revenue of $505 million increased 2%.
Higher sports programming rights costs were driven mainly by contractual increases across AFL, NRL and Cricket Australia, partially offset by lower marketing spend for Kayo and BINGE and lower transmission costs.
